Hylands Assists Shenzhen Neptune Information Technology Co., Ltd. in Completing a Series A Financing of RMB 100 Million Level

Shenzhen Neptune Information Technology Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Neptune") has announced the completion of a Series A financing of RMB 100 million level, led by Sequoia China and followed by Matrix Partners and SOSV (current shareholder). It is reported that, following this series of financing, Neptune will continue to increase investment in product development, expedite market development progress and adhere to technological innovation.

Established in 2018, Neptune is applicable to the shipping industry, with a focus on ports and anchorages scenarios. It performs hull inspection and cleaning of ships through remote semi-automatic industrial-grade robots, thereby saving fuel consumption and reducing carbon emissions for the shipping industry. Neptune has expressed that it is recognized as the industry leader in industrial-grade ship underwater testing/cleaning robots for the shipping industry, and is currently engaged in regular ship hull testing/cleaning services in ports and anchorages in Shenzhen and Ningbo. Neptune Robotics is one of the first of its kind in the world to successfully provide ship inspection and cleaning services through robots. The Company has engineered a complete system capable of cleaning the hull above and below the water and using a cavitation water jet system to clean the hull surface and remove biofouling without damaging the hull surface.



In terms of commercialization and implementation, Neptune is one among the first companies in the world to successfully provide ship inspection and cleaning services through robots, resolutely implement the "Market Driven, Customer First" concept, dig deeper into customer demands, respond quickly to customer demands, and engage in development and implementation. Currently, the customers of Neptune have covered the head customers of shipping industry both at home and abroad, and Neptune has started regular operation service in ports and anchorages in Shenzhen and Ningbo, and has served hundreds of large vessels so far. As for the use of the series, co-founder and CEO Elizabeth Chan comments, "We started from three people in November 2018 and grew to 18 people by 2020, and we now have more than 60 employees. Part of the funding from this series of financing is being leveraged to attract additional engineering talent, industry experts and marine biologists. By 2023, we plan to have approximately 120 employees. We are planning to expand the product line of Neptune Robotics and expand to more ports in order to improve the fuel efficiency of our customers in an environmentally friendly manner. To better serve the customers of our maritime industry, extensive port coverage is critical.” It is the vision of Neptune to make robots available in every port throughout the world, and to make efforts to save energy and reduce emissions so that our future generations can live longer on the earth. The team members are from colleges and universities at home and abroad, such as Cambridge University, Imperial College London, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Peking University, Dalian Maritime University, China Naval Equipment Research Institute, and Renmin University of China. 


In the current Series A financing, Hylands Law Firm, as the legal advisor of Neptune, has provided full legal services for this round of financing. The scope of services includes transaction structure design, transaction negotiation, drafting, reviewing and revising various transaction documents, and assisting in completing the signing of transaction documents and project delivery. The Project is hosted by Yuancheng GUO, with the participation of Meng YAO, Qingqing CHEN and Xinyu QIU.
