本届花园建造节的主题为“未来的花园”。未来充满多种可能性，它不仅意味着科学技术的不断革新，也蕴含着人们对于诗意栖居环境的向往。未来的花园或是充满朝气、蓬勃昂扬的，或是引人遐思、令人心驰神往的。在充满未来感的花园里，空间的流转、场景的变换、光影的交叠、材质的细节将无不打动参观者驻足流连，完成一场时间的旅程。未来未至，时空交叠却已在一隅花园，可以释读出空间的多重可能、在场感和幻境感的往复变幻。 

The theme of this year’s garden-making Festival is "The Garden of Future". Future is full of possibilities, it might mean the continuous innovation of science and technology, or people's constant pursuing for a poetic living environment. The garden of the future might be full of vigor and vitality, or might seem daydreaming and fascinating. In the garden of future, the flow of space, the change of scene, the overlapping of light and shadow, and the details of material will all lead visitors to linger and complete a journey of time. Before the future comes, the garden enables space and time to overlap with each other, elaborating the possibilities of space, the sense of presence and illusion.

 本次竞赛鼓励设计者在有限的地块内，以竹材和花卉为主要材料，设计并建造一座具有未来感的小花园，设计者需充分尊重竹材的自然特性和施工技艺特点，使用原竹、竹篾、竹片等材料，利用其空间延展性特征、材料不同排列方式和密度形成的强烈韵律感特征，探索竹作为结构材料、围合材料和装饰材料的多种可能性，寻找最适宜的呈现方式，并通过结合花卉的运用表达出设计师对“未来的花园”这一主题的理解。

 Participants are invited to design and build a small garden with a sense of future in limited space by mainly using bamboo and herbs. Designers are encouraged to explore the various possibilities of bamboo as structural materials, enclosure materials and decorative materials on the basis of the natural characteristics of bamboo and the characteristics of its construction techniques, and to find the most suitable representation showcasing the theme of "The Garden of Future". Bamboo materials, such as raw bamboo, bamboo splits, bamboo strips, etc., should be the main material. The strength ductility of bamboo and the consequent elasticity of the spatial structure, the ingenious joints caused by the limitation of natural materials, the various appearances and strong rhythm formed by the different arrangement and density of the materials… can be the basis for the design.

THE GARDEN-MAKING ORGANIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

花园建造节组织分为4个阶段：

第一阶段：方案设计征集与邀请、评选，确定入选名单；

第二阶段：入选作品施工图绘制和可行性对接；

第三阶段：现场建造；

第四阶段：评奖、建造节开幕式及展览。

The garden-making festival has four phrases:

Phase-1: Call for entries. The jury reviews and confirms the winning list.

Phase-2: Construction document preparation and feasibility negotiation.

Phase-3: On-site construction.

Phase-4: Winner announcement; festival opening ceremony and exhibition.

花园建造方案设计竞赛征集

CALL FOR ENTRIES

本次北林国际花园建造节的竞赛主题为“未来的花园”，以竹材和花卉作为主要材料，设计并建造一座小花园。

花园建造基地位于成都，每块建造基地面积16m²（4m×4m）。组委会将先期对建造基地做出统一界定，植物材料均为盆栽，不提供露地栽培植物。场地基础资料和植物清单后期另行公布。

建造内容包括一个以竹材为主要材料的景观构筑物，以及与之配套的花园空间。其中，竹构占地不超过地块范围，余地留作花园，竹构与花园必须有机融合，交相辉映，构建具有未来感的花园空间。

1）竹构要求：本次竞赛要求使用竹材搭建一个可进入或可参与的竹构小品，竹构限高5m，占地面积不超过地块边界；建议能够承载一定的功能，形式随宜；搭建方式应简便易行，但须做到安全牢固。可选竹材包括原竹、竹片、竹篾、竹棒、竹梢等，不允许使用除竹材以外的其他材料。

2）花材要求：建造材料仅限花卉和地被植物，须在组委会提供的材料表中选择，不宜使用其他材料和设置水面。

3）请按照以上规则进行花园设计，否则将被取消参赛资格。

The theme of the competition is “the garden of future”, inviting all participants to build a garden with bamboo and herbs.

All garden plots are located in Chengdu, each with an area of 16m² (4m×4m). The organizing committee will demarcate these sites ahead of time and provide potted plants, but no open-field plants. More detailed site information and plant list will be announced later.

It is required to design a bamboo pavilion and its garden space. The edge of the structure should not exceed the site boundary, and within the height limit of 5 meters. The pavilion should be well coordinated with the garden, forming an integrated whole of garden space with a sense of future.

Requirements for the bamboo pavilion: it should enable visitors to walk in or participate. Specific function and the corresponding form are suggested. The construction method should be simple and easy-constructing, yet it should be safe and firm. Optional bamboo materials include raw bamboo, bamboo splits, bamboo strips, bamboo sticks and bamboo tips, no other materials are allowed to be used. The structure should be no larger than the site boundary.

Requirements for the plants: Please only use herbs and ground covers on the material list provided by the organizing committee; no other materials and water features.

Participants will be disqualified against the rules.

本次竞赛分为学生组与专业组，学生组面向国内外风景园林及相关专业在校本科生及研究生，鼓励跨专业合作参赛，每个小组须确定1-2名指导教师；专业组面向风景园林及相关专业从业者。所有组别均须以小组形式报名参加方案征集，小组人数不得超过8人（含8人），每组团队只能提交1份作品，最终建造参赛名单与竞赛报名名单一致，不得更改，所有入围建造阶段的作品需由团队成员亲自完成现场搭建。

The competition open to both students and professionals. The student category invites teams of students home and abroad (who could be undergraduate or graduate students studying landscape architecture and related majors). The professional category invites teams of practitioners working in the related field. Each team should have no more than 8 members (including 8). Each team must have one or two advisors (only for student category) and can only submit one work. The team member list of final construction stage would be consistent with the entry list of the competition and may not be changed. All constrution phase shortlisted entries must be built on-site by team members in person.

本次花园建造节学生组有竞赛方案征集和特别邀请两种参与方式，共30个方案将进入最终建造阶段；专业组均以竞赛方案征集方式参与，共8个方案将进入最终建造阶段。

For student category, there are two ways of participating in the festival competition, including open call and special invitation, 30 schemes will enter the construction phase. Professional teams only participate with the open call process, 8 schemes will enter the construction phase.

2021年1月5日前：参赛报名

1）竞赛采取两种报名方式：A.学生组与专业组自由报名。B.受邀学校组队报名；

3）报名截止日期：2021年1月5日，学生组须确定指导教师及团队成员名单；专业组需确定团队成员名单。报名后将得到一个注册号，由组委会于2021年1月10日23：59（北京时间）前通过电子邮件告知参赛者。

设计方案排布于一张横向A0图版上（高841mm，宽1189mm），JPG格式，分辨率300dpi。图版中应包含设计图及设计说明，文字须为中英双语（或英语）。图版中不得出现任何透露作者、指导教师及所属学校与单位的内容。文件命名方式为“注册号.jpg”，如：045.jpg。

2）方案提交截止日期：2021年3月5日

1) Submission requirements:

The design project should be presented on an A0 printed panel (841 mm high, 1189 mm wide) in landscape format, saved as JPG with a 300-dpi resolution. The panel should include the presentation of the scheme, the related images and descriptions. Use both English and Chinese (or only English). No author, advisor and institution information should be mentioned on the panel. The panel must be saved as a JPG and named as "registration number.jpg", such as "045.jpg".

2021年4月5日前：方案评选

竞赛组委会组织专家评审团为参赛方案的设计创意及建造可行性进行评审，对竞赛类方案展开评奖，并从获奖作品中确定以竞赛方式入选花园建造节的实施作品。

竞赛类参赛作品奖项设置入选奖若干，颁发奖状，团队入选花园建造；优秀奖若干，颁发奖状。

The organizing committee will convene a jury to evaluate all competition entries for their design creativity and construction feasibility, giving awards to the open call winning entries from which winning schemes will be selected for construction during the garden-making festival.

The awards for open call entries:

Construction Finalists: winners will receive certificates and proceed to on-site construction.

Excellence Prize: winners will receive certificates.

2021年4月15日前：方案细化与调整

Before April 15, 2021: Detailed design and revision

在开始施工图设计前，组委会将根据评委和合作单位的意见，要求入选团队进行基于实际建造可行性的方案深化调整。由合作单位向入选团队提供技术指导，直至完成施工图。

According to the suggestions of the jury and the cooperation companies, the organizing committee will require the winning teams to refine their schematic designs based on construction feasibility prior to the construction document preparation. The cooperation companies will provide technical supports to finalisted teams until the completion of the construction documents.

2021年5月1日前：施工图提交

Before May 1, 2021: Construction document submission

1）入选建造节的竞赛类作品和受邀高校作品均须绘制施工图，以PDF格式提交组委会。施工图文件为A3文本，包含平立剖施工图，设计及施工说明、设计尺寸、材料做法、节点构造、细部大样、预制构件、施工进度等。

2）施工图提交截止日期：2021年5月1日

2021年7月底—8月初：完成现场建造

Late July or August, 2021: On-site construction

1）入选建造团队于7月底-8月初参加在成都举办的第四届国际花园建造节启动仪式，并开始花园建造工作。建造周期为3.5天。

2）建造要求：须满足相应的技术及安全牢固要求。

1) Winning teams and invited teams will attend the opening ceremony of the Garden-Making Festival in late July or August 2021 and then begin the garden construction work. The construction will take three and a half days.

2) Construction requirements: All relevant technology and safety requirements should be met.

2021年8月：评奖、建造节开幕式与颁奖

August 2021: Jury discussion, the opening ceremony and the award ceremony of the festival

建造节组委会于现场建造结束后组织国内外知名专家进行评奖。花园建造节开幕式上将由特邀嘉宾为获奖团队颁发证书。

The organizing committee of the festival will organize several well-known experts from home and abroad as the jury to evaluate the construction scheme after the construction. Special guests will present certificates to the winning teams at the opening ceremony of the Garden-Making Festival.

参赛规则

COMPETITION RULES

1）参赛者同意并遵守本竞赛通知的内容及竞赛规则，违反规定者将被取消参赛资格；竞赛组委会对竞赛规则拥有最终解释权。

2）电子图纸中不得出现任何有关设计者姓名和设计机构的文字或图案，不符合规定者将被取消参赛资格。

3）竞赛组织方拥有参赛作品署名权以外的其它版权权利，包括但不限于发行权，展览权，信息网络传播权，出版权等，设计方具有署名权。

4）所有参赛者需确保自己所提交的作品为原创且未参加过其他竞赛。

5）参赛者不得接受竞赛评委任何建议与指导，违反规定者将被取消参赛资格。

1) Participants agree on and adhere to the content of this notice as well as the competition rules, otherwise he or she will be disqualified. The competition organizing committee reserves the right of final explanation.

2) Digital drawings should not contain any author and institution names or logos, entries which are not in accordance with the rules will be disqualified。

3) The competition organizing committee reserves all the rights other than authorship, including but not limiting to distribution, exhibition, information network dissemination, publication, etc. The designers reserve the right of authorship.

4) All participants should ensure their submissions are original and have not been submitted to other competitions.

5) Participants cannot receive guidance from the competition jury, otherwise he or she will be disqualified.
